AUSTIN, TEXAS – This week, the Texas Association of Business (TAB) hosted a roundtable in Austin, Texas, with Assistant Secretary of Commerce Grant Harris and business leaders and industry stakeholders to discuss ongoing efforts by the Department of Commerce’s Supply Chain Center to mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities and enhance economic resilience.
The productive roundtable discussion focused on collaborative strategies between the government and private sector to strengthen both domestic and global supply chains, benefiting U.S. industry. As a key trade gateway for North America, Texas plays a pivotal role in revitalizing American manufacturing, creating good-paying jobs, and enhancing economic and national security.
“We are thrilled to host this critical discussion. Texas businesses are at the forefront of manufacturing and supply chain innovation,” said Glenn Hamer, President and CEO of the Texas Association of Business. “Securing and bolstering our supply chains is essential for maintaining the resilience and competitiveness of the Texas and U.S. economy. By strengthening these supply chains, especially in crucial sectors such as semiconductors and critical minerals, we can mitigate risks, reduce dependency on foreign sources, and ensure that Texas businesses continue to thrive in an increasingly globalized market.”
“We are focused on building stronger, more resilient supply chains that support American jobs, businesses, and communities,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry & Analysis Grant Harris. “Engaging with industry is essential, as is hearing firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing U.S. companies. Our supply chain resiliency efforts have greatly benefited from close collaboration with the private sector, and we look forward to partnering with industry stakeholders in Texas as we address shared challenges and strengthen America’s supply chains.”
