Texas Employers Thank Governor Abbott for Signing Community College Finance Reform Bill

Austin, TX — The Texas Association of Business (TAB) thanks Governor Abbott for signing HB 8 by Representative Gary VanDeaver (R-New Boston):

“Community colleges are uniquely positioned to strengthen the future Texas workforce,” said TAB Board Chairman Massey Villarreal. “TAB thanks Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dade Phelan, Representative Gary VanDeaver, Chairman Brandon Creighton, and Woody Hunt for bringing this critical piece of community college finance reform across the finish line.”

House Bill 8 was a top priority for Texas employers this session. This legislation aligns degrees and certificates with workforce requirements, incentivizes student outcomes, and expands partnerships between employers and community colleges.
